Statement by the Honorary Secretary of the Satem Vibhag Kelavni Mandal, Mr. Vipin Patel

It is an enduring truth that social, political, economic, or national revolutions can only be achieved through education. I first pay homage to the visionary education enthusiasts of the Satem Vibhag Kelavni Mandal, who fully embraced and implemented this ideology during their time. In 1959, Valsad district of South Gujarat and its village Satem was marked as tribal area. In 1996, Navsari district was established. Since 1959, secondary education has been provided in Satem village. Mr. Bhagwanji Lalbhai was appointed as the first president of the Satem Vibhag Kelavni Mandal. I sincerely acknowledge the dedication of the land donor and then Vice- President, Mr. Amrutbhai Rambhai Patel whose generous donation of land for the school building exemplified his commitment to the nation.

In 1960, the 10th-grade classes began, and the educational institution was named Shri Gunvantbhai Ramanbhai Vidyamandir, which has a fascinating history. When a contribution of ₹51,000 was decided upon for the school's naming by the village's leader and education supporter, Mr. Prabhubhai Khushalbhai Patel, an additional contribution of ₹51,000 was made by the donor based in Mumbai, Mr. Ramanbhai Premabhai Patel (Raman Brothers). At this time, Mr. Prabhubhai set aside the desire to name the school after his mother, recognizing the paramount of education. He demonstrated his exceptional generosity by naming the blocks Matrushri Dhaniben Khushalbhai – Sanskar Block and Pitashri Khushalbhai Kunvarji – Vinay Block.

Humbly, I share that the late Prabhudada, who renounced the attachment to name the school, is the father of our family's elder, Maganbhai, and thus, my grandfather, whom I am proud of. It is through his blessings that I am now managing this educational committee. Over the years, approximately 15,000 students have studied at this school, securing safe and prosperous careers in their respective fields. Currently, 2,000 students are enrolled.

Since 1972, Mr. Maganbhai Prabhubhai Patel, son of Mr. Prabhubhai, has served as the institution's president. Under his leadership, the Satem Vibhag Kelavni Mandal established many institutions, achieving a prominent status in the development of educational facilities through the co-operation of relatives, supportive donors, and the community. Among the various institutions established over the years are :-

Following the closure of Shri R.B. Patel Technical Institute in 1986, the mandal established Diwaliben Ukabhai Tarsadia Nursing College in 2023 to provide educational opportunities to students from deep rural areas within a 70-80 km radius of Satem who faced economic, social, geographical, or other challenges. The nursing college received full support from honourable donors, well-wishers, education enthusiasts, and mandal collaborators, for which I express my heartfelt gratitude. The generous donation of ₹1 crore by the esteemed Mr. Bhikhubhai Ukabhai Patel, residing in America and originating from Singod, Bardoli District, Surat, contributed and helped to realize the committee’s vision and aspirations.

This institution, named after Mr. Patel's mother, is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and has successfully met all requirements of the GNC and INC, securing official approval. The college has been allocated 60 seats each for the B.Sc. Nursing and GNM courses, and we successfully admitted 114 students in the first year which is considered our initial achievement. We are now making efforts to introduce post-basic B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing courses in the college.

Building for a modern hostel residence for 450-500 students is one of the top priorities of the mandal. We aim that provide excellent residential and dining facilities for one student and the mandal remains committed to continuously strive for advancements in the nursing educational campus to create numerous job opportunities and contribute to the nation's development. We are dedicated to nurturing the invaluable legacy of our elders and fostering the growth of this institution.

Finally, I sincerely pray to the gracious Almighty and Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, to bless our educational endeavors so that all students studying at our institutions can build secure and bright futures, fulfill their family's expectations, and make significant contributions to the society and the nation.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. Vipin D. Patel
Secretary
Satem Vibhag Kelavni Mandal, Satem.
